Pyrography equipment and resources
Razertip: Makers of fine Pyrography burners and pens. I use their ssD10 duel burner and an assortment of pens. They have great, prompt service and have replace broken tips under warrenty without question (I like working at very high temperatures and tend to apply a bit of pressure when texturing and engraving which is pretty hard on tips).
Sue Walters: Prominant Austrailian Pyrography artist. Her “Pyrography Workbook” is an informative and inspiring resource for aspiring artists. The website if full of fabulous art as well as links to other artists and suppliers and tips and techniques.
International Association of Pyrographic Artists: Uniting Pyrographers is a User Group on Yahoo that offers resources and discussion for Wood burning artists.
20th Century Pyrographers: An International Exhibition of Pyrographic Art in Andrew, North Carolina. I won’t be able to make it myself, but the sample online list of Exhibiting Artists is worth a look for inspiration.
Patric Faleur: An extensive listing of Pyrography artist, equipment and resources.
Motion Graphics
Video Copilot: Hands down, the best tutorial resource around. Andrew Kramer’s samples are a mixture of inspiration and technical kung fu. Pure gold.
MotionWorks: John Dickinson is another gem. If you’re ever feeling down, uninspired or jaded about professional life, watch his Unplugged web series. Interviews with Trailblazers and innovators in the After Effects community.
LesterBanks: Tutorial site for all things motion and graphic. Run by the only person to give me formal instruction in 3D modeling and animation. Oddly his name isn’t Lester.
Friends and associations
Studio Post: My employers, the most complete HD Post production facility on the Canadian Prairies. If you’re producing a movie, series or commercial and you’re in Western Canada, you’d be foolish, foolish I say, not to contract us! I also designed the website.
Cowboy Country Television: A western lifestyle, art and cooking series with which I’ve been proudly associated since its inception in 2005. Yes, I also designed their website!
Tanner Young Publishing Group: Publishers of Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine and co-producers of Cowboy Country Television. They’ve been very supportive of my Pyrographic pursuits and I’ve also done some design for them. No, I didn’t design their site, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a look.
