I’m officially on break till the new year so started off the holidays with a few bottles of cheer. Well, not quite this many, but enough to inspire a little beer bottle creativity!
After making a Christmas tree on my coffee table I pulled out all the empties in my place and made a mess of the living room. I set up the composition with the 10.5mm fisheye in mind. I made a cove in front with to showcase different labels (yes I do prefer dark ales).
The lighting is fairly simple. There’s an LED woorklight directly under the camera, an LED video light a few bottles back to add the nice amber highlight, and finally the SB600 speedlight positioned behind and above to add highlights to the bottle tops.
The fisheye is positioned a few inches from the middle front bottles and angled to create a lovely curved horizon.
After getting the shot I wanted with the fisheye I pulled out my 70-300mm telephoto to see the difference between the two focal lengths. This shot was taken about 12 feet away from the subject. Dramatic difference, yes?
Happy holidays and Cheers to all!
